More About the Mediator

Arnold Miniman was born in Brooklyn, New York, the eldest of three sons of Arthur and Rosalind Miniman. He attended grade and high school in Springfield, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, New Jersey) in May of 1968. He then attended the Washington College of Law, American University (Washington, D.C.), where he received his law degree in 1971.

Mr. Miniman was admitted to the practice of law in New Jersey and before the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, in 1971. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1984.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Miniman clerked for the Honorable Bertram Polow, Judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court (the predecessor to the Family Court) in Morristown, New Jersey. In September of 1972, he established a law practice in Morristown, specializing in divorce and trial litigation.

On August 30, 1989, Mr. Miniman became the Municipal Court Judge for Riverdale, New Jersey. In 1992, Mr. Miniman joined the law firm Johnson, Murphy, Hubner in Riverdale. He handled Family Court matters for the firm and became a partner in 1995. He continued to serve the Borough of Riverdale as Municipal Court Judge until January of 1995, when one of his law partners became Riverdale Borough attorney. At that time, he resigned as Judge due to the resulting professional conflict.

On October 1, 1994, Mr. Miniman was appointed Municipal Court Judge for Rockaway Township. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed Judge for the Town of Boonton. He became the Municipal Court Judge for Mountain Lakes on January 1, 1997, and on January 1, 2000, he was sworn in as the Municipal Court Judge in Denville Township, New Jersey. He continues to serve as Judge in these four communities.

In September of 1999, Mr. Miniman completed the Divorce Mediation Program at Rutgers University, Newark Campus. On February 1, 2000, he left his firm and established his mediation practice in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey.

Mr. Miniman is married to Christine L. Miniman, who practiced law in the State of New Jersey from 1978 until 1993, when she became a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Miniman have three children and one granddaughter.
